We strongly believe that it is important for the children in our school to have a voice,  air their views, give their opinions,  debate local and national issues and share their faith with each other.  We pride ourselves on being inclusive and giving children equal opportunities to succeed in the wider world.

Pendle Pupil Parliament

The Parliament is made up of 11 Primary schools from around Pendle:  

Nelson St Philip's CE Primary School;  St Joseph's RC Primary Barnoldswick;  Bradley Primary;  Holy Saviour RC Primary;  Christ Church CE Primary Colne;  Park Primary;  Walverden Primary;  Lord Street Primary; Salterforth Primary and Marsden Primary.

Miss Moulden and Mrs Harvey are the lead adults supporting the work of the children.

Pendle Pupil Parliament provides a platform for local primary school children to work together with other community stakeholders such as Pendle Borough Council,  the Police,  local community groups etc.  to discuss local issues and pathways to dealing with them.  Each school have two representatives who attend the meetings.  There is a formal organising committee of children who have been voted in at the first meeting after giving presentations on why they should represent the parliament in one of the committee roles.

The meetings take place in the Council Chamber at Nelson Town Hall and we meet 5 times a year as a full Parliament with 5 committee meetings preceding the full parliament meeting.   Pendle Pupil Parliament has a high profile in the local area and meetings are often attended by important guests such as the local MP, police and local business owners.
